The Eco-Industrial Estates Asia Network is pleased to announce that the 2nd International Conference for Eco-Industrial Development and the 2nd EIEAsia Networking Workshop will be held March 7-12, 2004 in Thailand.
Hosted by the Industrial Estate Authority of Thailand (IEAT), the events will bring together more than 400 leaders from industry, business, government, service and research sectors as well as development agencies from around the world to discuss advances in Eco-Industrial Development (EID). Participants will have the opportunity to meet with the leading EID practitioners, managers and decision makers from industrial estates and corporations, with business and government representatives ready to share experiences in a networking environment.
Under the theme ‘Partnership for the Future’ the conference will focus on practical experiences and applied tools in eco-industrial development, mainstreaming resource efficiency and environmental management into industrial development strategies. The conference will highlight current EID issues for sustainable development in the industrial context:
1) Strategies and Policies for Implementation of Eco-Industrial
Development
2) Business Models and Practices
3) EID Tools, Standards and Benchmarks
4) EID Partnerships through Networking
Presentations and discussions will aim at
– featuring practical experiences and application of tools,
– mainstreaming environmental management and resource efficiency into industrial develop strategies,
– involvement of all stakeholders, especially industrial estate developers and management teams, the business community, and local governments
– engaging international players and incorporating world-wide experiencees
– facilitating partnerships for future action.
A number of side events will include seminars for industrial service providers, eco-efficiency in the automotive supply chain, an ISIE Asia Chapter meeting, EID in China meeting, and an International Business & Policy Roundtable. Space for posters and limited booth exhibition space is available.
Field visits to selected eco-industrial estate pilot projects will be arranged during the EIEAsia Workshop in the Rayong Region. Evening events will include a night show in Pattaya, a pre-conference poolside BBQ reception and a dinner reception in Bangkok.
The conference will be held back-to-back with the 5th Asia-Pacific Roundtable for Cleaner Production (APRCP), March 15-17, 2004, in Kuala Lumpur, making it possible for participants to attend both events.
